NYC Ranked The Second-Best City Worldwide For 2025
Global consultancy firm Resonance has unveiled its list of the World’s Best Cities for 2025 — and guess what! The Big Apple is up to the second place.
New York City managed to jump up from its third-place position behind London after Paris to secure the position of second-best city.
The annual report evaluates 400 cities by using statistical analysis and resident & visitor feedback on various data points. The framework for ratings consists of three essential sections that examine livability via affordability and infrastructure quality and lovability for cultural attractions and entertainment offerings together with prosperity metrics that evaluate education levels and workforce engagement and global connections.
New York City secured second-place positions in Business Ecosystems and Cultural Offerings worldwide for 2025. The report recognized New York City’s ability to recover from the pandemic while emphasizing its “indomitable spirit” and its dynamic return to life.
The city’s rental market continues to rise while visitor numbers reached 65 million in 2024 and will surpass this record in 2025 when it becomes the most visited year in the city’s history.
The city’s attractiveness increased because of ongoing airport improvement projects in NYC along with railway service expansions. NYC also experienced cultural revitalization through key developments such as The Bronx Children’s Museum reopening which Resonance attributes to “the city’s renaissance.”
London continues its uninterrupted reign as the world’s best city by leading seven of the 28 evaluated categories which include nightlife and airport connectivity for the tenth year running. The city of New York City now holds the position of second place worldwide while standing as the top U.S. city according to the 2025 rankings.
The city of Paris now occupies third position despite its status as the 2024 Summer Olympics and Paralympics host while Tokyo and Singapore hold the fourth and fifth places in the rankings.
